JULIAN CLARY
ADDS A TOUCH OF FAIRY MAGIC TO
CINDERELLA
THIS CHRISTMAS!
QDOS ENTERTAINMENT are delighted to announce that JULIAN CLARY will be appearing in the production of CINDERELLA at THE BRISTOL HIPPODROME this Christmas.
It’s that time of year again, bring out the men in drag, bring out the puns, bring out the dancers, the singers, the puppets and the magic because the Panto is back in town….(warning…panto pun….) oh yes it is! (told you!)
Julian Clary, Henry Luxemburg and Laura Evans are the stars of Cinderella at The Bristol Hippodrome this year, and Nowt2Do.Com caught up with them in the luxurious surroundings of Ashton Court Mansion as they showed us what we had in store.
Henry from Hollyoaks takes the role of Prince Charming to Laura Evans, from The Basil Brush Show, takes the title role of Cinderella. Dressed in a beautiful gold ball gown Laura can’t wait to start the two weeks of rehearsals before they get on stage for the first time. This is her first pantomime and she can’t wait to get on stage and entertain the crowds. Henry played the part last year and is thrilled to be back on stage, “I’m so excited about getting back on stage, obviously working with Julian is huge fun but I have always loved pantomime since I saw my first one in York at the age of 7. It embraces everything that theatre should be about, its relentless fun.”
“My cousin is Toby Farrow so I know Bristol very well from coming down to see his plays here, and it’ll be great to make this lovely city home for a few weeks. The real winners with the show are going to be the audience, this is a magical show with a fantastic story, it’s pure entertainment and family fun…Christmas showbiz at it’s best.”
Julian was decked out in one of his amazing costumes, which change throughout the show, along with his dog Valerie who had a studded pink collar. After chatting to Paul O’Grady who was in Snow White at the Hippodrome last year Julian is also looking forward to getting to know Bristol, and is hoping that he’ll have been kicked out of Strictly Come Dancing by the time the panto begins…yet he assure us a quickstep or two will be added to the ball scenes!
“This is my fourth year of playing Dandini, it’s a part I love. I let everyone else get on with the story then add my own jokes, humour and fun to the proceedings. Each year the show gets better and better…I love the fact that I can get applause just for walking on in a fabulous costume! I’m there to entertain the adults while everything goes over the kid’s heads! It’s strange it work’s on both levels, we get school parties in, families and office Christmas parties!”
Julian of course recently has been touring with Taboo, “I loved Taboo it was great fun, but if I had to choose I’d do panto over Taboo. It’s great getting together with all the panto cast as it feels like family. Cinderella is the ultimate panto in my view, a really magical story and it’s great to see the kids faces light up as the ponies appear, and see how engrossed the get in the story! Of course there’ll be plenty of my trademark humour, and it’s bound to be the most magical, exciting, funny and fantastic pantomime of all time…but then again I would say that.”

The most famous fairytale in the world will be turned into a family musical extravaganza to delight BRISTOL audiences!
JULIAN will be returning to pantoland, and bringing his unique and original humour to the role of Dandini, Prince Charming’s aide de camp.
Starring alongside JULIAN will be heart-throb HENRY LUXEMBURG from Channel 4’s Hollyoaks as The Prince (further cast members to be announced).
Tracey Lawes, Theatre Manager at The Bristol Hippodrome was delighted with the news, “Judging by the amount of people who visited our theatre last Christmas, we have no doubt that this year’s family pantomime Cinderella, starring the hilarious JULIAN CLARY will have the same appeal and with a strictly limited 3 week season, the cast will be playing to packed houses”.
