Nowt2Do.Com Theme Park Review

Reviewer: Chris Cox

On your way into Blackpool there are three things you can't fail to notice, Blackpool Tower, Another tower, yes a Huge Tower, and a rather large, well 235ft Coaster, yes the last two, are the ones you want to be heading to! BLACKPOOL PLEASURE BEACH.

Its easy to find, as there rides now own the Blackpool skyline and as it is Britain's top tourist attraction (as it is free to get it!) people will all be heading there to sample its 125 attractions, and its amazing shows! It may be free to enter, but unfortunately it isn't that cheap, you can either pay per ride, get a set of ride tickets or new for this year get a unlimited ride wristband, the good news though, is that because the park has so many things to offer, the lines are never that big! The park doesn't only offer top rides, it also offers WORLD CLASS shows, which are really worth watching including, "The Hot Ice Show" "Ellipse" and "The Outrageous Ken Webster"

The park though, does have no themeing, apart from the new ride Valhalla. Due to the lack of themeing the park is missing, the extra edge that you get from that, and it is very tacky, but don't let that put you off! "Valhalla" is the new ride for 2000, and when I visited the park it was not open 8-( but never fear, Im going back later in the year, so expect a full review then! As you will be able to see from the pictures, it does look stunning and it is the world's biggest dark ride, and a multi-million pound one, so I think it will be something!

The first ride I would suggest you going on is "ICE BLAST" (formally Playstation- The Ride) it is a usual space shot tower, this is a tower, with seats round it where you are blasted up towards the sky! They are always amazing, and as it only takes 12 people per shot, it is worth going on as soon as you get to the park! After boarding the ride, you can hear it getting ready to send you to the sky, you just have to sit and wait, the suddenly, WOOSH you are at the top of the tower, catching some serious, air time as you start to fall back to the ground, then you bounce a bit before having to get off. It is so worth a ride, and it is an amazing feeling! JUST GO ON IT!!

As you walk around the park you will see the usual attractions such as the log flume and many other coasters including, "The Big Dipper" "The Wild Mouse" and "Rollercoaster" all of which are very old wooden rides! The Wild Mouse is VERY Wild, and so fun! The other two are simple rides which have lots of bumps and a few helixes, nothing special, but still worth a ride! Also don't forget the "Revolution" a looping coaster, when you are propelled out the station, into a little drop, a loop, up a little hill, then you stop, and do it again backwards! A wicked ride! "The Grand National" however, is a completely different wooden coaster, a racing one! Both tracks are the same, but, its great! The trains leave the station and commence the climb up the lift hill, then follows a series of drops and climbs, (humps!) and turnarounds, themed with the famous Grand National Race, by themeing I mean, the corners have signs saying famous turns in the Grand National! After lots of drops, humps, climbs and turns, the trains race towards the finishing line, and drop under a path, before a short climb to the winning post, it is different each time (the winner!) and it can be quite competitive! Dont miss the chance to ride this, and its even better if you can get your friend, on the next train!! Ok then, Im onto it now, you can't miss the 235ft lift hill in the stunning, red track, blue supports, yes the "PEPSI MAX BIG ONE" is an amazing ride! It is jam packed full of different things, and really doesn't even slow down, or get boring! After that climb up the lift hill you start to drop heading straight towards the pavement, the viscously kinking round to your left, and slamming your way down the the bottom, felling the G forces then push you into your seat before you start to ride up the 1st climb! It is an amazing experience, and fast, thrilling, and never ending, it is Blackpool's best ride, and if you miss it, well YOU ARE A FOOL! The rest of the ride is  reviewed for us below!

THE PEPSI MAX BIG ONE

What can I say about this ride? Well it isn't the largest Roller Coaster in the world (Superman the Escape has beaten it and the Steel Phantom, Desperado and a couple of others are taller) but it is one of the fastest TRUE coaster in the world. It reaches to a top height of 213 ft and a top speed of 85 mph. It was constructed and opened in 1994 and had its first accident in August 15th 1994. I first rode it in 1995 and 4 times in 1 day in May 97. Here comes the in-depth review of it. Once you wind out of the station you take a gentle right turn into a Pepsi Max tunnel and then up the lift hill. This hill takes about 30 to 40 seconds (yes, it is that long!). Once you get to the top you go into a short drop and then into a 850 banking turn into a massive drop which sends you past the Log Flume and then suddenly into a 190ft hill, drooping down and then into a helix turn which is when you think you are about to drop out of the cart. You then pass through the that last drop into a series of approximately 75ft to 100ft hills until you pass through the lift hill and a quick turn going up and then down passing through the Big Dipper, up a hill and into a braking point bracing you for the next part of the ride. It would be best if you could get off here as the ride is as good as over in my opinion. Now, the Big One goes into a horizontal corkscrew and then behind the Roller Coaster and Space Invader, going into a tunnel (where you get your pictures taken so make sure to pose) and then out into the loading station. And there it is in a nutshell. It's good to ride on but not worth the £4.50 but worth the 2 A tickets.

Well, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, may be very tacky, but its rides and shows are worth the tackiness! An amazing park, full of all sorts of rides, and still putting them in! It is poor on themeing, but height on enjoyment and rides!
