Flanked by 9 Bodyguards, arriving 5 minutes after the show was meant to start, walking through the stage door and straight out onto the stage to a delighted crowd anxiously awaiting their hero…nope not another S Club Tour, but Michael Moore.

On a whirlwind tour of the UK taking in as many cities as possible Mike came onto the stage in his now famous costume of baggy jeans, t-shirt and cap, to an audience ready to applaud and cheers his every word, ready to spread the “boo to Bush” word, ready to get people on busses to the protests, this my friends is “politc-tainment.” Never before has politics been so inspiring, interesting, thought provoking and funny, Mike is a true master of getting his crowd to understand his point.

His “everyday guy off the street, not to smart, one man can make a difference” persona works perfectly in the flesh. It’s effective and joyous in his films and books, but on stage his charisma comes across, not with the schmooze of Bush or Blaire but with genuine sincerity.

He spoke to the audience about his ideals for life and America, he warned Britain not to turn into America, he said what he’s been saying in films, books and on TV for years, and it really felt like this audience was listening and taking note and will follow Mike’s actions. He took questions and fielded them like a pro, using his sharp wit and vast intelligence to devour the questions, answer them properly and entertain the audience….if Mike ever ran for President, he’d do those Q&A sessions well…but we’ll leave that to Oprah….(read the book…that’s what he’s there to publicise!) Of course, that also meant he read a few passages from his funny, thought provoking masterpiece which is “Dude, Where’s My Country?”

Engaging with the audience with awesome humour, and using a brilliantly crafted comical football story, comparing visiting an Arsenal match to a Broadway musical he put his point across in the most accessible terms.

The standing ovation, and 30 minute line for him to sign their book at the end shows you how popular this man is. He’s funny, he’s interesting, he has ideals, ideas and thoughts, he is Michael Moore and judging my today’s reaction….nothing’s going to stop him.

Win a copy of Mike's Books!
