Imagine. You’re in your tenth year of a touring show and it will be your farewell tour. You choose all the songs you like, your favourite venues and best of all – you pick the best singers and musicians. And so it is with this, the final curtain call for the Blues Brothers. The result is exhilarating.

Simon Foster and Brad Henshaw as Elwood and Jake are superb. The three members of  The Bluettes are magnificent and could hold their own fronting their own band. The musicians are excellent. Put it all together with a great stage presence and humour and you have a show that has them dancing in the aisles.

This has always been a popular show, but this is so slick, professional and entertaining it is a riot. As the good-looking soul chick alongside told me, it was her third Blues Brothers show and this was by far and away the best.

I found it incredible that it still manages to surprise. The rap version of the Rolf Harris classic Two Little Boys is brilliant – but the highspot for me was the performance of Under the Boardwalk which was one of the most soulful I have had the pleasure of listening to.

Oh yeah -  mustn’t forget Antonio Fargas – you remember him, he was Huggy Bear in Starsky and Hutch – who performs the Cab Callaway track Minnie the Moocher in a special guest appearance.

This is your last chance to see this show –you’ve got till December the 9th to wish it farewell at Bristol.
