The Onion Bar

 para active is a company already established as a great hit with Tobacco Factory audiences.  This time they have a two week residency at the theatre, when they will hold workshops as well as perform their latest revised production, Onion Bar - an original and entrancing theatre involvement.

Actors and audience come together in Para Active's latest production.

You will be met at the door by your host Dogush the Barrman. Show the way, you will enter the clandestine world of The Onion Bar.

With the ritual chopping of raw onion into a scared paste, the patrons of the bar line up to inhale its heady aroma, the onions help them to weep, while Naseeb the Fortune Teller encourages them to publicly air their private pain. We learn of Maria and her tragic tale of infanticide. We meet a shy doctor whose whole life is based on a single lie. Dimitris reveals his disgrace on his wedding night. Pieter recounts a nightmarish story of bullying.

Para Active's new theatrical creation fuses dance, drama, music and design in a compelling style of physical theatre and imaginative storytelling.

Director Jonathan Green says its a privileged to come to a unique and exciting space, and they look forward to utilising and reforming it to create the Onion Bar.
