For the very first time - Opera at the Tobacco Factory!

In the space that has proved so successful in creating a fresh and enlivening insight into well-known works, another classical production for the Tobacco Factory

 Opera Project
presents

Cosi fan tutte

by

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

 Tuesday 21st October - Saturday 1st November

(Wednesday 22nd October is a fund-raising Gala Performance for the Tobacco Factory, with delicious food and drink and a chance to mix with cast and company.  Ticket price £75 inclusive.)

In the intimate space of the Tobacco Factory, Opera Project present Mozart’s comic opera Cosi fan tutte.  This popular piece, with English translation by Richard Studer and orchestration by Jonathan Lyness, will be an entrancing experience both for regular opera-goers and those new to the art form.

Cosi fan tutte is a brilliant comedy and an opera of wondrous charm and power, containing arguably some of Mozart’s most beautifully lyric music.  The story explores women’s faithfulness by test and deception and, as with most good comedies, has more serious undertones.

Opera Project make opera more accessible.  Their productions are very expressive both musically and dramatically and the use of English adds to the compelling nature of their work.  Performing in intimate spaces also allows the audience to become almost part of the opera itself.  I’ve rarely felt so physically involved in a performance .... the presentation was so keenly alive”  Michael White - The Independent on Sunday.

Opera Project was formed in 1993 by Richard and Jonathan while they were still students at Bristol University, and has grown to be a highly respected and innovative company.  To quote: “Opera Project began life in a Bristol pub where the two of us thought that setting up an opera-company might be a good career move.  Ten years on our summer tour now comprises four productions playing across the country from Yorkshire to Wiltshire over a period of almost five months.”  They have about 12 operas in their repertoire and have been rated as ‘showing opera as vital, thrilling and uplifting as it should be’, and being ‘the future of opera’.

They have a regular season each summer at Iford Manor.
