Miss Saigon Charity Cabaret

The legend which is Miss Saigon is coming to the Bristol Hippodrome as part of its first ever UK National Tour.

Having amazed audiences in London for 10 years, Cameron Mackintosh's legendary musical Miss Saigon has commenced its first ever UK national tour. Using the original set, the tour will be the largest tour ever undertaken in the UK. The tour commenced to rave reviews at The Palace Theatre, Manchester in Novermber 2002, transferring to The Point Theatre in Dublin in July 2002, The Playhouse in Edingburgh in October 2002 and The Bristol Hippodrome in Feb 2003.

Miss Saigon first premiered at The Theater Royal Drury Lane, London in September 1989. Since then it has become the third most successful musical in the history of British Theatre, grossing more than £150 million. It has been performed in 14 countries in 8 different languages and has been seen by over 28 million people world wide winning 29 different awards on the way.

Restaging the original production has been an ambition of the show's producer Cameron Mackintosh for some time. "Miss Saigon redefined the way we think about musicals. Although the setting is vast to reflect the epic backdrop of the fall of Saigon, the reason the show works so well is that its central drama is universal - a mother's love for her child. I am delighted to be giving British audiences another chance to see this amazing piece of theatre."

Set in 1975 during the final days leading up to the American evacuation of Saigon. Miss Saigon is an epic love story about the relationship between an American G.I and a young Vietnamese woman.

Leading the production is Leo Tavarro Valdez, who is highly acclaimed for his portrayal of The Engineer. Leo has played the role worldwide including London, Sydney, Manila, Hong Kong and Singapore. Joanna Ampil will play the role of Kim and Niklas Andersson will play Chris, both of whom have also played these roles during the West End season.

Miss Saigon has music by Claude-Michel Schonberg and lyrics by Richard Maltby Jnr and Alain Boubil, adapted from the original French lyrics by Alain Boubil. Miss Saigon is designed by John Napier with costumes by Anderane Neofitou, lighting by David Hersey and sound by Andrew Bruce. It will be presented by Cameron Mackintosh Productions with Clear Channel Entertainment.
