YOUR NIGHTMARES JUST CAME TRUE
THE LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN TAKE ROYSTON VASEY
TO YOUR TOWN WITH

THE LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN ‘ARE BEHIND YOU’ LIVE TOUR 2005

They’re the ultimate neighbours from hell, and they could soon be turning up on your doorstep, as comedy TV’s most nightmarish creations, The League of Gentlemen’s townsfolk of Royston Vasey take to the road for a live UK tour this autumn.

A Phil McIntyre Entertainment presentation, The League of Gentlemen ‘Are Behind You’ 2005 tour will see the team behind the multi-award winning TV series take their warped creations on a 22-city tour beginning mid-October in Bristol and crossing the country to end up in London early December.

The tour follows a summer of high visibility for TLOG writers and creators Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton, Jeremy Dyson and Reece Shearsmith; the foursome’s TV series is back on BBC TV and 3rd of June will see their monstrous and hilarious creations, Hilary Briss, Herr Lipp, Edward and Tubbs and Papa Lazarou cross over onto the big screen with the nationwide release of their first feature film, The League of Gentlemen’s Apocalypse, opening on over 250 screens across the country. A UIP release.

Always to be relied on to deliver the unpredictable and unexpected, The League of Gentlemen’s autumn/winter tour promises some ‘seasonal surprises’ which will anticipate and play homage to the traditional end-of-year predominance of pantomime. ‘There will be much fun to be had,’ is all they are prepared to reveal about their plans to take their unique brand of comedy back on the road for the first time since 2001.

While TLOG have become a regular highlight of British TV comedy, with 3 award winning series and an hour long Christmas Special already tucked under their belts, live comedy is where TLOG were founded. Their live sketch show won them the Perrier award when first presented at the Edinburgh Fringe festival in 1997.  They have since gone on to prove their credentials at radio, where their BBC Radio 4 series scooped them a Sony award. Their subsequent move into television brought them numerous awards including the prestigious Royal Television Society and Golden Rose of Montreux awards.

TLOG’s previous live show, ‘A Local Show for Local People’ which enjoyed a six week run at London Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, received an Olivier Award nomination for Best Entertainment 2002.

In comedy TLOG hold a unique place. Eschewing the normal situation comedy format, The LOG sense of humour is rooted in much darker corners, turning the rural village setting of their characters away from the gentleness of more light-hearted northern-set comedy, to a place where strange and grotesque things can happen. ‘Northern Gothic’, is how creator Mark Gatiss assesses their take on their rural outpost Royston Vasey where all their characters come together.

Flush from what is certain to be a massive box office hit with cinema audiences when

The League of Gentlemen’s Apocalypse opens in June, Gatiss, Pemberton, Dyson and Shearsmith set up their travelling road show October 13 at The Bristol Hippodrome with the following 8 weeks seeing them play near two-dozen towns before their arrival in London for four consecutive nights at Hammersmith Carling Apollo, beginning December 1st.
