Tickets are now on sale for the biggest, most dynamic fashion and style event of its type outside of London – the Hobbs Show.

In its fifth year, the Hobbs Show is this year expected to attract an audience of around 2000 people to two shows on 22nd March at the British Empire and Commonwealth Museum, making it the biggest so far.

Offering a unique chance to see some of the region’s hottest design talent alongside collections from Bristol’s leading independent retailers, the show is anything but a boring catwalk clothes-hanging exercise, with audiences advised to ‘expect the unexpected’.  Professional dancers, acrobats and musicians are just some of the ‘performers’ included in the show, alongside models hand-picked for their distinct style.

With up-and-coming designers given equal billing to collections from some of the industry’s top names, the show includes the trendiest/clubbiest/hippest wear, through to sophisticated glamour, fettish, fun and ‘home-grown’ haute couture – all with a focus on individuality and personality as the keys to creating real style.

“Fashion and style are all about creating a look that suits your personality – not just wearing clothes because they happen to be ‘in’ this season”, explains Doug Hobbs – the organiser of the show and owner of Hobbs hair salon in Park Row.  “While the Show presents all the latest looks alongside a look at retro fashions, our focus is on delivering an event which gets people thinking about the importance of personality and individuality.  When I first launched the show in the garden of a Bristol hotel in 1997 I had a burning desire to literally ‘show’ what Bristol can do in the style arena.  The fact that five years on we’re now expecting 2000 people and are struggling to cram into one of the largest spaces in Bristol proves that we’re doing something right!”

For the first time this year, the Show will also be raising money for a national charity – the Meningitis Research Foundation.  For each ticket sold £1 will be donated to the charity which is funded almost entirely by voluntary donations to continue its great work.

Alongside the show, a limited-ticket ‘after-show-party’ is being organised with tickets on a strictly first-come-first-served basis.  A chance to mix with the models, musicians, performers, retailers and designers, it’s a party that will be talked about for months to come!

With over 30 years in hairdressing, Doug knows a thing or two about style.   Recently invited to style for the Miss World competition, Doug is also a trains professional hairdressers around the world for Matrix.  His experience also includes extensive work among the celebrity fraternity, alongside professional styling for magazines throughout the UK.  With a real passion for his business, Doug’s latest plans include development of a ‘professionals training school’ here in Bristol – watch this space!

For tickets to the show call Hobbs on 0117 929 1635, or call into the salon in Park Row, Bristol.  Alternatively, tickets can be purchased from the Bristol Ticket Shop in The Arcade, Bristol – 0117 9299008, from John Anthony in Broadmead – 0117 922 0799 or from Cyberdog in Park Street – 0117 939 0999.
