Nowt2Do.Com love Cirque Du Soleil, we've reviewed two productions and were blown away by both, now they are back, and giving you the chance to see just how good they are!

YOU WON’T BELIEVE IT

CIRQUE DU SOLEIL is arguably the most spectacular and popular theatrical phenomenon on the planet.  This JANUARY, the company sweeps into LONDON for its eighth successive year, with a brand new show that will transport its audience into a glittering new realm of inspirational entertainment.

The show is DRALIONTM, never before seen outside North America. The company expressly wanted to stage the EUROPEAN PREMIERE in LONDON, given the UK’s enthusiastic and passionate engagement with CIRQUE’s work over the past eight years.  It’s delighted too to be returning to the ROYAL ALBERT HALL, which is now all but formally established as the company’s yearly LONDON residence.

DRALION is attracting even greater acclaim than its outstanding predecessors SALTIMBANCOTM, ALEGRIATM and QUIDAMTM.  Startling, exciting and distinctive, DRALION maintains the famous CIRQUE tradition.  It is as heart-stopping and as awe-inspiring as anything the company has previously produced.  Anyone who has stepped inside the embrace of the ROYAL ALBERT HALL when CIRQUE DU SOLEIL is on stage knows that nothing – no writing, no images, no video even – can capture the magic, the spectacle and the wonder of an evening in the presence of some of the world’s most extraordinary entertainers.

DRALION combines avant-garde CIRQUE DU SOLEIL magic with the mysteries of traditional Chinese circus.  With rare balletic beauty and a remarkable, effervescent energy, the show gives visual, musical, physical and dramatic expression to the four essential elements of existence – Earth, Air, Fire and Water.

The set is an immense, towering, technological sculpture, whose every ramp and wire and wheel and wall plays a crucial part in the show as support and accessory to the lithe spinning aerialists and acrobats that swing and dive and plunge far above the safety of the stage.  The costumes are dazzlingly iridescent, and shot with silver and gold and a flaming wash of different tints and shades.  The original music melds the melodies, instruments and influences of a diversity of cultures from Andalusia, to Africa to Asia, into an unorthodox and inspiring soundscape that provides a perfect aural complement to the panorama of bizarre and beautiful performances that unfolds before the audience.

DRALION features 55 artists from ten countries (Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, France, Ivory Coast, Russia, Ukraine, United Kingdom and the United States), including a house troupe of 37 Chinese acrobats.  Together they create a spectacle of such extreme physical dexterity, strength and daring that it has the capacity to leave the most hard-bitten adult open-mouthed with awe and wonder.

US reviewers said, “In Cirque du Soleil's Dralion, fanciful creatures and …self-parody infuse the troupe's acts with new life. Entrancing as ever ... impeccable." (LOS ANGELES TIMES). "A first rate show unlike any other..." (NEW YORK TIMES). Two million members of the public, in 24 US cities, have watched the show which bears further testament to the show’s appeal.

It is hard to find the requisite superlatives.  Nothing quite seems to fit the bill.  CIRQUE DU SOLEIL has to be seen to be believed.  Or maybe not.   As THE DAILY TELEGRAPH’S CHARLES SPENCER put it: “…I return year after year to CIRQUE DU SOLEIL, for the best bits leave you disbelieving the evidence of your own eyes…” .

The long and the short of it is, DRALION is definitely a show that needs to be seen to be disbelieved.  See it, if you don’t believe me.
