Following the success of their National Tour of ‘In a Month of Fallen Sundays’, The Paper Birds return with their new devised production. Based on the premise that ‘accidents happen’, three curious characters trip, slip and stumble in this exploration of accidental thoughts, sounds, movements, images and gestures accompanied by live original music.

Bruised feet stand on the edge of a bed then jump in the hope of flying. Bloodshot eyes search coffee stained office walls then focus on a pile of lifeless shoes. Thin hands in fingerless gloves tie flowers to a railing then return to a scrap yard to finish a sandwich…………….The story of three woman accidentally waiting to happen………..

The Paper Birds are an all female touring theatre company based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. The company formed in 2002 whilst undergraduates at Bretton Hall, Leeds University.

The company will complete their National tour of ‘In a Month of Fallen Sundays’ in May with a tour of Ireland, concluding with a performance at the prestigious Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival, in Belfast.

On request the company have co-written a Television show for the BBC and devised and performed a stage production for the BBC’s Northern Exposure Festival, in association with the Theatre in the Mill, and the West Yorkshire Playhouse. The Paper Birds performed to sell-out audiences at The Pleasance, Edinburgh Fringe Festival ‘03, and returned to the Fringe with equal success in ’04 listed in The Scotsmans ‘Top Five Shows of the Fringe’ and as The Guardians top three pieces of physical theatre.

‘Accidentally Waiting to Happen’ will premier at Bristol Old Vic’s, Mayfest on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st at 8.00pm
