What are RSS Feeds?
|
|
| |
RSS Feeds are a way for websites to provide content to the
public in a format, other than html (web pages). RSS 2
stands for "Really Simple Sindication" which basically means that
the information contained within an RSS Feed is really easy to
parse and so display to the end user.
So how do you use them? There are a number of ways you can use
RSS Feeds. One of the most useful, in this author's humble opinion,
is to use Firefox
as your web browser. Firefox allows you to add 'live bookmarks' which
are created from RSS Feeds and are yet another reason why Firefox is
one of the most powerful browsers around.
There are other ways to view RSS Feeds, mainly by using RSS Feed Reader
programs or by viewing the RSS file directly. The latter option is only
really viable if the website adds style information, as Nowt2Do.com has,
to the Feed. Try it out by clicking on a RSS link on one of our pages!
