Springer Opera needs you!

The hit musical Jerry Springer – The Opera is to hold open auditions for new cast members around the country, in a search to find the best talent from the UK.

Making theatre history, Jerry Springer –The Opera has won an unprecedented four awards for Best Musical at:The Olivier Awards, The Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards, The Evening Standard Theatre Awards and The What’s on Stage Awards, transferred to London’s Cambridge Theatre on 10th November 2003 and has an extended booking period up to January 2005.

This new opera is based on America’s most lurid talk show and the US host who brought worldwide television audiences programmes entitled: “Pregnant by a Transsexual,” “Here Come the Hookers,” and “I Refuse to Wear Clothes”. As Richard Thomas said of the television show: “It’s got tragedy.  It’s got violence.  There are people screaming at each other and you can’t understand what they’re saying.  It’s perfect for opera.”

Jerry Springer – The Opera is looking for actors and singers to join the award winning show, however no West End experience is required. If you think you have what it takes to be part of the hit musical, you can attend the open auditions in the following areas:

LONDON - Monday 8th March at the Cambridge Theatre, Earlham Sreet, Seven Dials, WC2H 9HU, 9:30am

MANCHESTER – Wednesday 10th March at The Dancehouse, 10 Oxford Street, M1 5QA, 10am – 5pm

GLASGOW –Thursday 11th March at The Tron Theatre (Chisholm St. entrance), 63 Trongate, G1 5HB, 10am - 5pm

BIRMINGHAM – Friday 12th March at The Hippodrome, Hurst Street, Birmingham, B5 4TB, 10am - 5pm

Jerry Springer – The Opera is created by Stewart Lee (book and lyrics) and Richard Thomas (music, book and lyrics) and produced and presented by Avalon Promotions Ltd (The Frank Skinner Show, Fantasy Football and The All New Harry Hill Show) and Allan McKeown (Emmy Award winning TV producer, founder of SelecTV and Meridian and original producer of Auf Wiedersehen Pet).

For further information, please call the production office Blue Box on (020) 7434 4214

Participants will need to prepare one short song with music for piano accompaniment or a backing tape/ CD. They will also be required to bring with them a CV and photograph for the panel to keep and clothing to dance in and be prepared to stay all day. We can only guarantee to see the first 250 applicants. Rehearsals take place from June 2004
