The orange glow of the hotel can be seen as you drive along Notting Hill's trendy Westbourne Grove, looking as inviting as ever. That welcoming atmosphere grows as soon as you enter the small reception and are greeting by the exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. They hand you your room key, attached to a rubber duck and away you go, through the swish bar and towards the rooms.

Then comes the moment any one staying in a hotel dreads and anticipates...the opening of the door, where you take your first glance at the room. Fortunately Guesthouse West does nothing but leave you open mouthed, and saying to you travel partner, "ohhh look at this, this is nice isn't it!"

The luxurious rooms are slightly cramped, but reek with style. From the fancy flat screen TV and DVD player complete with touch screen remote, to the simple yet elegant furnishings. The bathroom offers a delightful power shower and bath, but unfortunately isn't up to the standard of the whole room. The REN toiletries are a great touch, along with the espresso machine...perfect after a heavy night in Notting Hill's bars.

The bed looks comfy and is simple sublime...offering a comfortable and relaxing nights sleep, and the cool curtains work perfectly at blocking out the morning sun, so often a problem in even the best of hotels.

Guesthouse West has everything going for it, you couldn't ask for more for the price. The staff go out of their way to help, the location is second to none, and the rooms are beautifully contemporary. Arriving at the hotel, it feels like coming home. A perfect place to stay for any trip into London.
