Nowt2Do.Com Hotel Review

Name: The Alton Towers Hotel
Location:
Alton, Staffordshire, England
Closest park: Alton Towers
How to book: www.alton-towers.com

Driving down the main drive towards the hotel, you can tell that this is not going to be an ordinary visit, to a normal hotel. Greeted in the main drive-way is a fountain, which is themed as a crashed old time car! Gushing with water, fitting in amazingly with the white and brown exterior, something tells me John Wardley has had something to do with this!

After parking the car, and entering reception, I was greeted, with the sight of a gushing fountain outside, and what can only be described as a flying pirate ship from the dreams of children, outstanding, magical, just what they are after!

Mad capped characters roam the hotel, filling your life with fun, and making the whole experience unforgettable, to say the least. Even sitting and typing this review, there is music, by live singers, and comedy from, Ida Down, not only nosing into the review, but making it fun to write for a change.

The main atrium/bar area is where the base of the flying machine is, towering up to the fourth level of the hotel. An extraordinary view of the beautifully sculptured landscapes and you can just make out the roar, of the mighty B & M, monsters!

Room 142, our pirate adventure room for the evening, just the place to rest before, combating the mighty Nemesis. A problem though! A painfully wrong direction by the receptionist, sent is to the lifts, we didn't need to go here, but boy are we glad that we did. Pressing the button the doors close, the lights flash, the music begins! WOW, although not a descriptive word, it is the only one that you can use! The lifts are so imaginatively designed, that they are a ride in their own right! Who needs Nemesis... Me!

Before I get on to our room, I better tell you what other rooms there are! Ours is the Pirate Room, along with this you could of had a Garden room, for the same price, but for a bit more, the hotel comes into its own once again. The Nemesis suite, The Oblivion Suite, The Cadburys Chocolate Suite, The Coca-Cola Suite, The Arabian Nights Suite, all amazing, all worth the extra, and they all sleep 5/6 people! I did not get to look or stay in those rooms, but from what you can see in the broacher alone, they are amazing.

After entering our room, and having a look at the explorer/pirate theme, I chucked my bag on the top bunk bed, and headed straight for Pirate Lagoon, the swimming pool.  After getting changed, I dived into the pool, and had a swim, sauna and Jacuzzi. It was splendid, all themed to a secret lagoon!

Back down to the main atrium, we leave the bar area, and head for, "The Secret Garden" restaurant.

We had to book out table, and because of this, there was no real problems in waiting! We sit down, in the airy restaurant, that makes you feel that you are outside! The we had the mammoth task of choosing a meal! There is so much on the menu, and we all had three or four different ideas of what we wanted! The staff, not only in the restaurant, but throughout the hotel, are amazing! Friendly, always wanting to help, and very quick! The food was delivered promptly, and with excellent taste and flavor!

The hotel is hard to sum up in just a few words, just look up amazing in a thesaurus, and that will be most of them! It is unique, it is fun, and it is good value for money. Not only the perfect setting to stay before a day in the park, but the perfect hotel to live in!
