AT LAST, AFTER FOUR YEARS: EDDIE SAYS SEXIE’S THE NEW SEXY

EDDIE IZZARD returns to live performance for the first time in 4 YEARS, with a brand new, one-man world tour called SEXIE.

Played out in front of a vast video screen, SEXIE will be presented to a UK audience of 130,000 people during 15 gigs at 10 separate venues between Saturday 6th and Tuesday 23rd December.

The UK tour

THE BRIGHTON CENTRE (6/7th Dec)
BIRMINGHAM NIA (9th Dec),
SHEFFIELD HALLAM FM ARENA (10th Dec),
NEWCASTLE TELEWEST ARENA (11th Dec),
GLASGOW SECC (12th/13th Dec),
MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS ARENA (15th Dec),
CARDIFF INTERNATIONAL ARENA (16th Dec),
BOURNEMOUTH INTERNATIONAL CENTRE (17th Dec),
NOTTINGHAM ARENA (18th Dec),
WEMBLEY ARENA (22nd/23rd Dec)

A signer for the deaf will be at the WEMBLEY ARENA gig on DECEMBER 22nd. EDDIE himself was taught to sign as a child due to his grandmother being deaf. This will be the first time a signer has been used for an arena comedy event. A number of tickets will be held back for members of the deaf community.

EDDIE’S four year absence has been put down to starring in three Hollywood movies, ‘All the Queens Men’, ‘The Cats Meow’ and yet to be released ‘Blueberry’, a Channel 4 drama ‘40’, a critically acclaimed documentary ‘Mongrel Nation’ and his Tony nominated performance in the revival of “A Day in the Death of Joe Egg” in the West End and more recently on Broadway.

Now he’s back, doing another of the many things he does best, namely talking complete crap, live on stage for two hours a night, to arena-sized audiences of up to 14,000 people at a time.

EDDIE is a multi-talented superstar par excellence. His career started in Covent Garden piazza, soon after it took off when he talked bollocks for 13 weeks at the Ambassadors Theatre in 1993 and won an Olivier Award on the back of it. He’s also had a double-Emmy, a BVA and a BCA, to add to the BCG he got when he was 14, and the MMR he was given when he was a baby.

In New Zealand he was once described as “Awesome in the true sense of the word”. Unhappily, according to Chambers Dictionary, one of the true senses of “awesome” is “dreadful”, but other reviews would suggest that wasn’t what the reviewer meant.

Others suggest that he is “The funniest man on the planet” (The Irish Times). They also say he provides “sheer comic joy” through “a distinctive comic personality (that) creates a conspiracy of pleasure that leaves his audience weak with laughter” (The Daily Telegraph). And of course, let’s not forget “he’s the world’s most famous comic in a dress” (Time Out London).
