INTERNATIONAL BALLOON FIESTA
Ashton Court, Bristol
Thursday 12th – Sunday 15th August
2004

MUSICAL
FEAST OF SOUNDS
Thursday
12th - Sunday 15th August, main stage
Music
has become one of the main highlights of the fiesta with a range of
concerts programmed on the main stage throughout the weekend, from
chart-topping music acts and top DJs, to classical music concerts, to
appeal to a wide variety of musical tastes.
The
show kicks off with the GWR fm Free Music Concert with IKEA Bristol on
Thursday 12th August from 2-9pm featuring a line-up of
chart-topping artists.
Artists
confirmed so far are Sugababes, Darren Hayes (lead singer with Savage
Garden), Jamelia, Darius and Rachel Stevens, with others to be confirmed.
Now firmly established as a key event on the Bristol music
calendar, the concert is hugely popular, attracting up to 30,000 revellers.
On
Friday afternoon from 2-10pm, Sennheiser will be bringing the sounds of
Ibiza to Ashton Court for the first time, featuring a line up of female
only top DJs from leading agency Flipside. DJ’s on the day will be Miss
Behavin’, Sarah G, Emma Feline, Sophie Sugar and Nomio who will be
spinning a mixture of R&B, Funky House and Ibiza trance anthems.
On
Saturday from 2pm - 9pm, the Fiesta again hosts the national final of
the Sennheiser Best Unsigned Artist contest, the competition that
aims to track down the best young bands in the UK.
The six finalists will perform on the big concert stage and the winners
will not only get to perform live at Glastonbury 2005 but will also
receive prizes worth over £5,000. The Fiesta offers many finalists the
opportunity to play live in front of the biggest audience they will have
experienced.
Following
the success of its inaugural concert last year, the Bristol Sinfonia will
stage a classical music concert on Sunday afternoon from 4pm featuring a
repertoire of popular classics.
